APEC
APEC brought President Biden, President Xi, representatives from all 21 APEC economies, and approximately 2,000 international journalists to San Francisco.
In the months leading up to APEC, Bridge Media Company took the story directly into newsrooms through a series of roadshow briefings for editors, producers, and reporters. We explained what APEC was, why it mattered, what to expect during the week, and how the gathering would affect San Francisco.
We also developed media-facing collateral including newsletters, videos, story resources, background materials, and information highlighting San Francisco and the broader Bay Area.
Beyond traditional press engagement, we helped organize tours, briefings, receptions, and events across the city to welcome visiting journalists and showcase the people, places, businesses, and institutions that make San Francisco distinctive.
During APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, we helped operate the media center serving approximately 2,000 journalists, providing information, resources, access, and support throughout the event.
The work required coordination across City departments, public agencies, business leaders, communications teams, regional partners, and multiple levels of government.
Bridge founder Priya David Clemens served as San Francisco’s Ambassador to the Press and a spokesperson for the event, working closely with the San Francisco Mayor and City department heads throughout the planning and execution.
At its core, the assignment was about helping journalists understand both APEC and the city hosting it, giving them the context, access, experiences, and stories they needed to cover both well.
