Golden Gate Bridge
As Director of Public Affairs for the Golden Gate Bridge District, Priya served on the executive leadership team of the agency responsible for the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Transit, and Golden Gate Ferry.
Her work spanned executive counsel, media relations, crisis communications, employee and union communications, public engagement, and communications around major infrastructure, transportation, and policy initiatives.
She led communications for some of the District’s highest-profile projects and issues, including the movable median barrier, the suicide deterrent system, toll increases, transit service changes, ferry development, bicycle and pedestrian policies, and major operational disruptions.
Priya also created the What We Do video series to help the Board, employees, media, and the public better understand the work of the District. The series went behind the scenes of the Bridge, bus, and ferry systems to show the people, expertise, operations, and infrastructure required to keep one of the Bay Area’s most visible public agencies running.
The role required translating complex technical and policy information for employees, commuters, elected officials, stakeholders, and news media, often in situations attracting regional, national, and international attention.
That experience now informs Bridge Media Company’s approach to public affairs and storytelling: understand the work deeply, make the complex accessible, and show people why it matters.
